A Little Law School Humor....

I want to thank one of my former clients, now a 1L at a top law school, who has been sending me pithy little stories about her first few weeks of law school. I thought my readers would get a kick out of the e-mail she sent me today (S- thanks for letting me share it! I think it shows that the Socratic Method isn't quite as scary as law school applicants believe....)

Things my Contracts professor actually said in class last week:

"If you say President Bush is competent, you are wrong. If you say President Bush will do something right, and clearly he doesn't (because he can't), did you break a promise?"

"Raise your hand if you think what the defendant did was wrong. Ahhh, all the social workers."

"Katie, Mary...these are all lovely names. I thought people in your generation all had atrocious names like Tiffany."

"Drinking champagne at dinner is nice, but making your own Jager Bomb at home is just sad."

Advice Upon Starting Law School

I happened across this today, and although it was written in 2002 (when many entering 1Ls were still in high school!), it rings true today. The only part I really disagree with is about not looking at your grades because they don't matter, but on the whole the other points will help you put the coming semester (and 1L year) in perspective and I hope my clients and readers who are starting the adventure of law school enjoy this. It's called Letter to Young Lawyer.

More Law School Humor

One of my former clients, now a 1L, sent me this e-mail today:

It might be bad for business but in the interest of full disclosure I think you should post this on your website....

Thanks Ben! Now hit the books!!! Exams are just around the corner . . . And just think, at least you're not taking the LSAT today : )

A little Law School Admission Humor

This is incredibly uncharacteristic of me (because I'm usually stridently politically correct : )
But I just ran across this and couldn't help but laugh... I'm not endorsing the opinions expressed and I have no clue who the writer is (normal lawyer disclaimer language inserted here), but it's ok to be lighthearted at moments during the law school admission process.
